These ‘sandwiches’ are the perfect pre workout snack for lots of energy minus the processed wheat and gluten heavy bread.

These ‘sandwiches’ are the perfect pre workout snack for lots of energy minus the processed wheat and gluten heavy bread.

Apples are a good source of Vitamin C and soluble pectin (the setting agent in jam) which is thought to help lower cholesterol and stimulate healthy gut bacteria.

Ingredients

  • 1 Apple
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • Dried Fruits and nuts such as:
    • Dried Cranberries
    • Dried Apricots
    • Pine Nuts
    • Brazil Nuts
    • Flaked Almonds
    • Hazelnuts
    • Sunflower Seeds

Method

  1. Holding your apple on its side, cut into 4 slices. Remove pips.
  2. Spread a generous layer of peanut butter onto 2 of the slices.
  3. Sprinkle a mix of chopped dried fruit & nuts as suggested above onto the peanut butter.
  4. Sandwich the other apple slices on top.
  5. Enjoy!
